How To Look Thin When You Gained Shit Loads Of Weight
Getting Ready Time: 3 hours and 7 minutes. And this is why you should never gain weight. It makes finding clothes that fit and look good an absolute nightmare.
Continuing the series of my all-weather outfits…
Just like every other person alive, I love jeans. But in the last year, I have managed to gain a rather atrocious amount of weight. I won’t tell you how much, it’s too embarrassing. Let’s just say that I can no longer put on my skinny jeans without breaking down and crying in front of the mirror. Which made casual dressing a total bitch.
Luckily, a fluke of good genetics (thank you mom and dad!) means it’s never too obvious when I gain weight unless I put on jeans. The problem is, any weight I gain goes straight to my legs. Not my stomach, not my ass, and never-ever-ever boobs. Just legs. This makes my legs look very much like overcooked sausages stuffed in blue denim. Very much ‘pigs in a blanket’ situation. And that’s just not sexy. Taking me back to my crying-in-front-of-the-mirror point I made earlier.
But since self-hate is not helpful and I am currently not in a mood to go on a proper diet, I had to figure out a way to feel and look good while wearing jeans. My usual skinnies had to go, but luckily there is a lot more to life and fashion than skinny jeans. So, it came down to boyfriends.
Boyfriends jeans always had a certain appeal to me, but if previously I would only wear them at home or to Sunday brunch, now they have become my wardrobe staple. In a way they are a lot chicer than skinnies, they have a certain attitude to them. All you need is to find the right items to pair with them.
And in this case, I went for the Attico Lobster dress. One of my favourite things about the Attico dresses is that they can be worn as a dress or as a jacket. Which makes it a perfect layering piece. Paired with boyfriend jeans and a silk camisole it makes for a perfect day outfit, and in the evening all you need to do is to close it up, remove the jeans and voilà, you are ready to go out!
