How To Style Bright Colours In Spring/Summer 2020
Getting Ready Time: about 2 years.
Right. Long time no see. But here I am, back to my blog, as I have something vital to say:
I am SO done with beige! Honestly, we can call it caramel, oatmeal and sand, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s virtually all beige! And while I do admit to falling off my colour wagon right into ‘the oatmeal’ trend a few years ago, I can no longer handle the neutrality. Don’t get me wrong, I do not dislike neutral colours. They can be pretty straightforward to wear and matched with the right complexion- flattering. But how long can a girl last on oatmeal alone? Where is the excitement? The flavour? The drama?
Just like everyone else, I spent the last 2 years being drawn to nude, brown and khaki colours, but this year something changed. All of a sudden, as I look at the sea of beige that is my closet, all I feel is sadness and desperation. And judging by the latest fashion shows, I am not alone. Oranges, reds and blues are popping up everywhere. And I am here for it. Sure, the neutral pallet is not going to go anywhere just yet, but it’s a lot more fun when it comes paired with a side of bright colour.
So here I am, sharing my first purchase of 2020: a vibrant checked coat (on sale, thank you very much!). As well as my little cheat-sheet of the trendy 2020 colours and how to combine them. It’s at the bottom at the post and it shows you my little edit of the colours that go great with each other, as well as with all the neutrals. And having a little cheat-sheet on my phone prevents me from going a little overboard and binging on shades that although are lovely, do not fit with my wardrobe.
I’m wearing Look 1: Coat by Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, bag Bottega Veneta, skirt (just seen) The Frankie Shop (similar here, here and here), boots Balenciaga, earrings Roxanne Assoulin (similar here) and Maria Tash, ring Sybarite Jewellery.
I’m wearing Look 2: Coat by Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, bag Bottega Veneta, dress Maggie Marilyn, shoes Midnight00, necklace Ermanno Scervino (similar here), earrings Paco Rabanne and Maria Tash.
Cheat-Sheet:
The best of the brightest of Spring Summer 2020.
